As a huge Wallabies fan needless to say covering a Lions test match, an event which occurs once every 12 years was certainly a highlight of my career thus far. I remember watching the last one when i was in High School, i never thought id be fortunate enough to cover a test 12 years later. The colour, the atmosphere, the old world charm associated with Test Rugby Union & of course hearing thousands of Lions supporters singing the Negro spiritual ‘Swing low, Sweet Chariot’ are one of the many things i love about the Lions Rugby tour, it makes waiting 12 years worth it.
From a photography aspect i’ll be honest, sometimes given the atmosphere i just need to take it all in just for a second but once the game kicks i just let it go and got back on the job. As with most rugby games i choose to run up & down the sidelines, i personally feel i am able to get a bit more variety in my shots but the key is to be able to run & run quick to keep up with the play.
Here are a few pics from last nights match after the Wallabies nail biting win.
Now lets hope they can do it again in the 3rd & deciding test. C’mon Wallabies!
